SIA door supervisors on a UK night-time venue
SIA door supervisors on a UK night-time venue

Door supervisors are the licensed people on the rope, the search arch and the pavement. They are not a generic guard in a hi-vis. If you run a club in Nottingham, a bar cluster in Newcastle, a harbour venue in Bristol or late-night strips in Brighton, Manchester and Cardiff, the badge on the chest has to say door supervisor.

What a competent door team actually does

Queue management, ID and search policy, ejection with the minimum force the law allows, first aid, and a written incident. Radios to a supervisor. A count at capacity so you do not drift into Martyn’s Law territory without noticing. That is the job in Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street as much as in a student venue in Leeds or Liverpool.

Linking the door to a real audit trail

Too many venues still keep a paper book behind the glass. We log refusals, ejections and welfare concerns against the shift. Photos stay with the incident, not on someone’s personal phone. Area managers in London and Birmingham can open the same-night list.

Where we deploy night teams

London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Nottingham, Bristol, Brighton, Southampton, Cardiff, Belfast and Hull. Rotas follow licensable hours, not a neat 12-hour construction pattern. Tell us last entry, capacity and whether you need a female door supervisor on the search team.
